Over the last few days my partners and I have been working over the Shoemoney webinar. For anyone that is interested in monetizing their website then this is a video well worth watching.

A Good Point

Internet Lead GenerationOne of the points that I walked away with after watching the video was that Local Affiliate Marketing is pretty much an untapped market, especially in a place like rural Arkansas. I was talking this over with my wife I was informed that she, as an insurance agent, pays around $5.00 a lead off of internet generated leads. With about a 10% rate of conversion this means that a sale generated online is costing them about $50. As I further discussed this point with Cotton I realized that we have been providing this service FOR FREE, for years with one of our Chamber of Commerce customers. Years ago Cotton set up a form on the Chamber website that has a lot of checkboxes related to areas of interests (Relocation & Real Estate, Vacation & Recreation, Festivals & Events, etc…) with each box that is check a logic rule is applied causing the form response to be routed to a group email list.

For years this feature has been a bit of a thorn in our side because anyone that perceives that the system isn’t functioning as they think it should tends to come in our direction with a vengeance. Now remember, these aren’t our customers (thus the thorn analogy), these are Chamber members accessing a service we have provided to the Chamber (who is our customer).

Wow, didn’t someone once state that “Necessity is the Mother of Invention”? I can’t believe it took me this long to realize that their reaction(s) should/could be translating into a viable revenue stream and is demonstrative of the potential of local affiliate marketing.
