These days I am always interested when I come across an article on Twitter. It’s growth is nothing short of amazing. The image and quote were taken from Erick Schonfeld’s post on TechCrunch.
Maybe it is all the TV news mentions, but Twitter is seeing the growth in U.S visitors to its site accelerating. In February, 4 million people in the U.S. visited the site, up from 2.6 million the month before, according to the latest data from comScore. That represents a 55 percent month-over-month growth rate, compared to 33 percent growth in each of the two months prior.
Yes, Twitter is the latest, greatest hot thing right now but I am still not “getting it”. It kind of reminds me of when you stand on the edge of a cliff and shout just to hear your voice echo. It’s kind of cool the first time or two, but after a little while… so what? Is anyone really listening and doesn’t it get a little annoying?
I keep waiting for Twitter to improve my experience or open lines of communication with my customers. Hell, feed me a piece of information that helps me land a new customer. So far all I have gotten out of it is another cool application (TweetDeck) running in the background feeding me new noises that I am learning to ignore as bite size bits of information whiz by while I barely raise an eyebrow.
