Over the last year I have been slowly making the transition from MODx Evo to Revo. While it hasn’t always been a love-fest I can definitely say that things have been moving in the right direction as the MODx team has moved to the 2.0.6-pl release.
With this post I thought I would highlight some of the newer tools that are becoming available that will greatly enhance the capabilities of MODx Revolution.
VisionCart
As the site says, “VisionCart – A native MODx Revolution webshop framework!“. This is in beta, but it is such a promising project because we will finally have an integrated eCommerce solution for MODx. Follow @b03tz and @Dimmy01 for up to date VisionCart information.
VersionX
“…a basic versioning addon which keeps track of modifications and allows you to put older versions back in place. That way it can, besides keeping track of what happened, also act as a sort of backup.”
Although this appears to still be in the very early stages, I can tell you from the MODxpo discussions in Dallas earlier this year, version control/workflow was a top priority for many of the developers in attendance. Follow the DEMO LINK from the forum.
DitsNews
DitsNews is, “a newsletter system for MODx Revolution. It allows you to manage subscribers/groups and send newsletters.”
I can appreciate the size of this project as our team has recently developed a Drupal module with similar functionality. It’s in 0.1 alpha, but looks encouraging.
Cheat Sheets
I ran across these great Revo cheat sheets written by goldsky as I was finishing this post. Don’t forget the Revo Permissions document, the link is easy to miss.
