About Me

Education

I graduated from Batesville High School, in 1989, with no particular fanfare or honors. Eager to exert my independence, with all of the accumulated knowledge and skills that most high school graduates posses, I quickly struck out on my own and moved to Conway, Arkansas where I attended the University of Central Arkansas, full-time, for the next six years. I graduated as a BSN, RN in 1995 (once again with no particular fanfare or honors) and then returned home to Batesville, Arkansas. In 2002 I began online courses with the University of Phoenix, dramatically improved my academic performance and over the next two years (2004) earned by MSCIS.

Experience

Throughout my nursing career I worked in numerous critical care areas. Including: ICU, CCU, CVICU, PACU, and OR. I began working in my hometown of Batesville following my college graduation, where I stayed for the first couple of years. In 1997 I began to working in the Travel Nurse industry and lived in Colorado (multiple occasions), Washington, Missouri, and Arkansas.

Although I was initially drawn in to these more “technical” work environments I began to realize that it was not the experience of nursing that attracted me, but rather the technical challenges I found. As I began graduate school I realized that I was needing a complete break-away from the medical field. In 2003 I met Cotton Rorhscheib and started exploring the world of web development and hosting. In very little time I began to realize the opportunities that this type of work offered and teamed up with Cotton, my bother Stephen “Kegal” and formed Pleth, LLC (2004).

Professional Focus

I am especially interested in the art of CSS coding, site accessibility and the application of web standards.

Family

Greg Smart FamilyI was lucky enough to settle down in my hometown of Batesville, Arkansas surrounded by my family. I married a wonderfully quirky, Canadian girl who blessed us with two boys. My days are filled with laughs and smiles.

That’s what it’s really all about, isn’t it?
